How to create a tar.gz archive of a directory
It's very simple, as most of the commands in Linux/Unix:
- Login to your *nix box via SSH or a terminal
- Run command
tar -czvf name_of_archive.tar.gz name_of_folder/
The archive will be created in the folder from which you ran the command.
